  • I've been playing SOD for a while and I've tried every hero and surely most of the random survivors, so that got me wondering what do you all consider to be the best and worst heroes?

    My own list:

Best: Amelia Crasman - The Fighter

Has my favorite trait, powerhouse (Even though her description sounds like she should have nimble, I dunno) Has a personal skill, fitness guru (Not the most useful but it's better than cooking or some other common personal skill.) Has maxed out cardio and fighting from the beginning (It takes much longer to get stamina penalties due to this.) Has a very weak but light pistol (I only use guns on bloaters anyway.) Has no initial specialization (Yay, heavy weapons build!)

Worst: Alan Gunderson - The Killer

Has no personal skills or traits that grant defensive skills. Only has shooting as being maxed out, It is also pre-specialized. (I hate gun specializations.) Has a ridiculous 50. cal that he can't even carry without being encumbered. (The only good thing you can do with it is to give it to someone and hope they man the watchtower.) Has that stupid autocrat trait ensuring he thoroughly pisses off every single person at home. Is also entirely dependent on luck for his unlock requirements. (Luckily I got the mercy shot mission fairly early.)

    • On my book, the only hero worth living in my community is Doc Hanson, mainly due to his Medicine skills and the Medical Advice radio call which is available when he is a part of the community.

    • I've never needed to use the medical advice command, I honestly think that there are better random  survivors than most heroes, once I found a survivor with both medicine & construction, easily the most useful personal skills.

Too bad we can't use the ridiculous OP civilians in distress in lifeline.....

    • Best: Ray Santos with vehicle delivery. Great when your car breaks down in the middle of nowhere. Construction and Revolver spec are OK.

Worst: Charley Marshall. Has research skill. Unlock by reasearching everything.

    • Heather LaRue - Excellent encouragement.
The "Someone says... ... and Mine is Prepared!" lady. She also says "Oh honey thats wonderful!" A great encouragement~ :')

    • Hmm, this has me thinking...

Best: Walter. I mean come on people, immunity to bloater and screams? Plus the ability to make him a ninja and whatever loadout you desire? Haha! Rugby tackle all of those nasty fatties!

Worst: Andy. I know some people say he's pretty alright, but for me? I don't like him. His design is off putting (for me) and he doesn't have any traits which make him great - more of a hazard for everyone.

    • Best: Personally, I would say, Erik Tan, Dan Hovenden and Alicia Hawkes. All because of the Radio Calls associated with them. Death from Above (Helps out a lot initially clearing signal supply drops) Dan because of Swat backup. (can't wait to unlock him actually) And Alicia because of her Drone Recon.

Worst: Andy who is worthless as a hero and Jacob.

    • Gurubani is probably now the best. She comes with a perma silenced gun which pretty much tops everything.

    • yeah gurubani is awesome

    • The Wingate Commando that comes with Gurubani is very low in the durability stat though, it breaks really quickly. I like Kilohana, Sasquatch, and Shark Hoodie, but aside from Kilo's leadership they have no special skills/abilities. If any of them had a special trait like medicine or even cooking, they would be at the top of my list. But I'd say that the best is probably Doc Hanson or Walter, because both offer very useful skills that can't be acquired elsewhere. Doc isn't a great fighter though, and Walter's skill isn't useful against regular zombies, ferals, or juggernauts. The worst are definitely Andy Pimms, Jacob Ritter, Charley Marshall, Heather LaRue, and Calliope. They generally are weaker than normal survivors that have the same or better traits.

Andy at least has maxed wits and comes with a few chemical incendiaries.

Jacob doesn't have much for weapons but he does have powerhouse.

Charley and Calliope aren't too useful, I will admit, but at least heather has the cooking skill (Common but still useful).

Honestly, I've never had a gun break or jam on me, mostly because I primarily use melee weapons and dont carry extra ammo (Never felt the need to).

    • Andy Pimms - High Wits for searching. probably the chracter I used frequently.

Doc Hanson - max medical experience, you dont need to worry about health.

Dianne Montressor - sexy voice and artillery which makes missions easier.

Ray Santos - his vehicle delivery saved me everytime theres too much zombies around

    • Favorite Heroes include: 1. Ray santos 2. Guribani Kaur The Prodigal 3. Walter because of his Suit protection of screamers and bloaters 4. Doc Hanson 5. Milo I know he's not a hero but he should be 6. And last is Alicia Hawkes. Does anyone know zombie kitty by the way? Watch his lifeline video and if u did u know where Kilohana Hawkes comes from.

    • CREAM OF THE CROP:

      - Andy ("yeah let's do this bhoy") got him maxed got ninja on him so he's almost invincible. And he looks like a proper madcap which makes him GOAT

      -  Becca the tattoo lady with a past (was a prostitute). Had a pirate cutlass which sets the mood for the character. Got her edged weapons maxed and chose decapitation skill. slow as @@@@ so not useful when fighting groups but looks rad). Also, girl looks good in leather jacket. Was heartbroken when I lost her had to stop the car and take the phone forgot to press ESC and f-kin zeds ate her, bless her goth heart. Amelia and Kylie Gonzalez non-hero girl are standing in for her but it's a gap no heroine can fill I'm afraid. Irreplecable. True legend never dies you will never be forgothten Becca xxx

      - Heather - as someone said sometimes you just need some support. He can kick ass and cooks well what more u need

      OKAY:

      - Amelia. Nice traits on her. Good in hand to hand combat. The hoodie looks meh but at least she stands out from the crowd so okay

      BORING FILLER:

      - Walter. Guy has zero personality. He's worst than a zed he wears a freakin hazmat helmet on his mug! Why he's some people's favourite is beyond me. Well if you prefer to play as a robot devoid of personality... To each his own I guess! ;) Besides he's like a robotic clone of Gordon Freeman from Half life which is a very lame ass and lazy design from devs

      - Ray. First he's a whiner. I'm sorry but this is zombie apocalypse mate so if you want to live and get on with others stop the constant whining. Guy looks more boring than a zed in his shirt plus his only useful skill is the car call which is kinda lame. I mean it's like cheating. The game is challenging and if you can't do it on your own then you die but here comes Ray to bend the reality and asks god almighty for a car to deliver in the middle of nowhere. Ang god guy obeys cause you know, its his pal Ray who fixes cars for him. Second worst character in the game, design-wise. A good example of crap character design. He was bearable when I was a total noob but I kicked him out of RV on 3rd level because of his weak ass whining. Revolvers are too loud besides shouldnt be allowed to weak asses like him (again very poor design) As for Construction lots of non-hero characters have the skill

      - most military characters because of 3 things:

      1) how boring they look in full uniform therefore lacking in personality

      2) too powerful guns on them

      3) pre-selected gun skills and being crap in hand to hand combat

also that Montressori girl who have artillery drops which again is like cheating and break the immersion. It was okay for vanilla story mode but feels like cheating in BD

    • is it possible for a fallen hero to be recruited in the same level where the hero die? like i have Montressor at lv.5 breakdown and she died because 2 feral chewing her off.. so is it possible to recuit or encounter her at that same game level? or do I need to go to the next level to be able to recuit her again?

    • Best Characters:

      I have four:

Andy Pimms- Okay, when i started Breakdown, all i thinked was: "I learned that supllies and guns are everything, so i want WITS!". And one hero called my attention, The Dead Man, i killed 3 bloaters and mission "Hero Sighting" appeared, so i taked my pickup and head there. At first, i tried to kill him because i tough he was a zombie XD, but when i looked to it skills, DUDE WITS MAXED OUT?! IM A NINJA! But after, i stoped to use it to other heroes.

Amelia Crasman or the Blue Hoodie Girl- When i unlocked her, i was so happy to have her on my community! I had her on the original state of decay storyline, and have it on breakdown was so cool! Her skills and traits were just phenomenal and a fitness guru was just what i wanted.

Shark Hoodie Guy-Starts with max wits, an MPX, 3 machined supressors, Wakizashi short and normal and eagle-eyed, he IS one of the best heroes (at least for me) . He is an great scavanger, can kill with it (if you want) supressed MPX, or using the Ninja Skill, that for me, being one of the best skills.

Walter Degrasse- The scientist... for me its the BEST HERO EVER!  An crowbar, an Kriss Vector (referred as Super-Z in game), 6 Thermites, immunity against Screamers and Bloaters and others things! Some leveluping in the skills and is the best character.

      The worst character:

Alan Gunderson- Okay, to get him is an infinite pain, mercy shot is not good. Autocrat is just HORRIBLE, my morale in the community with him is just bad. The only "good' thing about him is the Mk. 15, but for it be good, it has to have an supressor, because this thing has an LOUD sound. Give it to the Guard at the guard tower of your base. If you want to use it yourself, use it with an character with powerhouse.

    • I’ve unlocked most heroes, but I always start a new game with Gurubani. She levels up quickly, is nimble, maxed cardio, and a researcher and medic saves me from having another useless character in her place. Her only downside is that she is “Away from Home” way too often so whenever I need her, she’s always tired. I love Becca, she always plays well for me, but she’s really only useful as a fighter. Amelia Crasman is good, always like having her. Shark Hoodie, is good too, but again I use him mostly for fighting. Getting a construction/mechanic is tough. The ones I have had all had negative character traits and start shit at home. There are a lot of useless heroes though. Too many to mention, actually.
